I am Marenda Hughes Taylor. Compton native, breast cancer survivor, caregiver, licensed life insurance and annuities strategist, flight attendant, and creative founder of Fly Savvy Sol. My journey is lived, raw, beautiful, and deeply real.
At age 39 I was diagnosed with triple negative breast cancer and tested positive for the BRCA1 gene mutation. I endured six rounds of chemotherapy, a bilateral mastectomy, and later an oophorectomy and full hysterectomy. My path to healing included more than surgeries and treatments. It meant redefining my life from the inside out.

Before every chemo session I would go to Manhattan Beach with friends to get grounded. I would sit and watch the planes take off from LAX, dreaming of a life far beyond survival. I said to myself, if I make it through this I will be on those planes. I will see the world. At the time I had never owned a passport or traveled outside the country. When I recovered I kept that promise. I became a flight attendant and started seeing the world. That was a declaration.
Not long after, my life shifted again. In 2023 my husband experienced a devastating hemorrhagic stroke. I became his full-time caregiver, learning to advocate through the healthcare maze while rebuilding everything physically, emotionally, and financially. Just before that I had also helped care for my grandmother who experienced a stroke. She passed away before my husband’s stroke. She was my prayer partner, my confidant, and a powerful part of my foundation. These back-to-back life shifts taught me that insurance protects more than finances, legacy lives in how we prepare, and healing touches every dimension of our lives.

I had once been underinsured and unprepared. I decided I would never let another woman experience that same fear and isolation. That is why I became a licensed life insurance agent. To be a solution. To teach others what I had to learn the hard way. To protect the people I love and serve.

I also returned to college, reclaiming a dream I had to put on pause years ago. I dropped out of Hampton University my sophomore year due to financial hardship. But my healing unlocked something deeper in me. I committed to finish what I started. Today I study Business Communications with graduation on track for 2026 while building my business, creating generational wealth, and mentoring others to do the same.
Fly Savvy Sol was born from this rebirth. It reflects everything I live by. It is a blueprint. A platform for healing, creativity, income growth, cultural legacy, and soul-deep transformation. Every part of this movement is rooted in real experience and designed for women like us. Bold, brilliant, done surviving, and ready to thrive.
This is my real life. The grief, the grit, the glow up, and the grace. I built this so nobody I care about ever feels powerless in their pain again.
Welcome to Fly Savvy Sol, where every scar becomes strategy and every moment moves us forward with purpose.
